Fairfield Cares will sponsor a special presentation by Michael Wagler, Director of AARP Iowa, on Saturday, October 4, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center Theater. His talk, “How AARP Can Help You,” will highlight programs and resources available to older adults and their families both locally and nationwide.
This marks the first time an AARP director has spoken in Fairfield. Wagler will discuss AARP’s initiatives in rural Iowa, as well as national efforts, and will take questions from the audience.
Wagler’s passion for supporting caregivers stems from his personal experience caring for both of his parents. As state director, he now works to ensure all Iowans over 50 have access to resources, advocacy, and community support.
Wagler brings two decades of community development experience to his role. Since 2002, he has worked with the Main Street Iowa program, helping more than 50 local nonprofits secure technical assistance and grants to grow local economies. He also serves on the Main Street America Board of Directors and has advised organizations nationwide on fundraising and strategic planning in the arts, transportation, and economic development sectors.
The October 4th event is free and open to the public.
