With a heart full of love and compassion, Diana Louise Mandity passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa.
She was a beacon of empathy and support for all those fortunate enough to have known her. Born on August 1, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, Diana’s journey led her to create a life rich in love, laughter, and lasting memories. Her spirit was as vast and inspiring as the different cities she resided in, from Oskaloosa, Iowa, to What Cheer, Iowa, Elko, Nevada, and finally, Selma, Iowa. Diana’s footsteps on the sands of time were imprinted with kindness, making her an unforgettable soul in the hearts of many. Diana was a hardworking woman who spent her professional life mastering the skills of a press operator and spot welder. Her dedication and commitment were evident in her work at Montezuma Manufacturing, from where she retired. Yet, her proudest achievement was not related to her career but rather to the legacy left in her grandchildren. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” This quote was embodied in Diana’s life, as she found immense joy and satisfaction in spending time with her family and friends and helping those around her.
Diana’s love for her family was unrivaled. She is survived by her son Thomas Mandity and his wife, Sara; her beloved grandchildren Kenadi Montgomery, Natalie Mandity, Samira Warburton, and Cayden Warburton. Her love and wisdom have undeniably shaped their lives, and they will carry her memory forever in their hearts. Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Daryl and Opal Walker, who now welcome her with open arms in the afterlife.
In the words of poet Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Diana’s loving, supportive, and empathetic nature will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
