On October 1, a concerned citizen contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, reporting that 45-year-old Chenta Hodroff from Des Moines had allegedly provided cocaine on two separate occasions. Following the reports, the citizen handed over the cocaine to law enforcement, who confirmed its presence through field tests.
When authorities questioned Hodroff, she admitted to having cocaine in her purse. However, during a search, she claimed that she must have left the cocaine at home. Despite her statement, Hodroff was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
Upon arrival, Hodroff was advised that bringing contraband into the jail would result in felony charges. Unfortunately for her, a search by the jail staff revealed a dollar bill containing a white powdery substance, which Hodroff acknowledged was cocaine.
As a result, Hodroff is now facing serious charges, including a controlled substance violation, classified as a Class C felony, and possession of contraband in a correctional institution, a Class D felony. A pretrial conference is scheduled for October 10 at 9:00 AM, and a bond of $5,000 has been set.
