On October 1, 2025, Deonta Davis, a 27-year-old resident of Coralville, was charged after police say he started a fight after bringing a knife to work.

According to court documents, Davis, an employee at the mall, confronted the victim, cutting him multiple times on the hand and ankle. The incident reportedly stemmed from a prior conflict involving the victim and a member of the Davis family.

The Coralville Police Department responded to the situation and subsequently requested a warrant for Davis’s arrest. He was taken into custody on October 14, 2025, and is currently held at the Johnson County Jail.

Davis faces charges of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, which is classified as an aggravated misdemeanor. A cash/surety bond of $2,000 has been set, and he is now awaiting the scheduling of his pre-trial hearing.
