The ballot is set for the Nov. 4 city and school elections in Jefferson County, with several contested races in Fairfield and a mix of incumbents and uncontested seats in surrounding communities.
In Fairfield, three candidates are vying for the mayor’s office. Incumbent Connie Boyer, first elected in 2019, is seeking her fourth two-year term. She faces challenges from sitting council member Doug Flournoy and community member Rhonda Sanderson.
Three city council positions are also on the ballot. The only contested race is in Ward 2, where incumbent Paul Gandy is being challenged by Matthew W. Johnson. In the at-large race, Bob Ferguson is running unopposed for Flournoy’s vacated seat. Matthew Rowe, the Ward 4 incumbent, is also unopposed.
In the Fairfield Community School District, three board seats will be filled. Mark Porter is seeking re-election, while Cody Freeman and Terry Wells are also running. Current members Tai Ward and Deborah Williamson did not file for re-election. With only three candidates for three seats, the race will not be contested.
Elsewhere in Jefferson County:
- Batavia: No candidate filed for mayor. Michael Britt and incumbent David Speas are seeking city council seats.
- Libertyville: Mayor Kevin Snyder is running for another term. Council incumbents Thomas Atwood and Deborah K. Moore filed, while a vacancy remains without a candidate.
- Lockridge: Mayor Susan Hopper and council members Randy L. Russell and Anthony R. Jones are seeking re-election, joined by Summer Johnson.
- Maharishi Vedic City: Mayor James Rogers Badgett and all six council incumbents filed, including Kathy Petersen, Leslee Goldstein, Tim Fitz-Randolph, Chris Johnson, and Maureen Wynne.
- Packwood: No candidates filed for mayor or any council positions, including a vacant seat.
- Pleasant Plain: No filings were made for mayor or any of the six council seats.
Voters across Jefferson County will head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
