Fairfield’s cherished Bountiful Bakery will serve its final pastries this weekend, closing its doors on Saturday, September 20, after years of providing the community with sweet treats and fresh-baked bread.
The bakery will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Because their pastry-making process takes up to three days, remaining items will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis—but the team says they plan to stay open until closing.
Owner Maya Busscher said the decision to step away was not made lightly. “I actually decided earlier this year that I would sell the bakery,” she explained. “It creates more jobs if it’s sold instead of closed, and it’s so beloved in the community. With five kids, who require a lot of attention, this season of life is very demanding, and I knew it was time to shift my focus back to my family.”
While bittersweet, the Busschers want the community to know this may not be the end of the Bountiful Bakery story. In a public message, they described themselves as “full of entrepreneurs,” hinting that new ventures may be on the horizon with their young kids already having stands to sell things at events such as the farmer’s market.
The business itself is currently for sale—with or without the building. Maya is asking $175,000 for the building and $125,000 for the bakery supplies, recipes, trade secrets, and training needed to operate the business. She emphasized that the bakery is fully functional, with capable staff and a loyal customer base, and hopes to see a new owner step in to continue the bakery’s legacy.
“Our proudest accomplishment is the community we’ve watched grow,” Busscher said. “While we loved watching our original ideas flourish, we’re looking forward to seeing the future owner add their unique touch to Bountiful Bakery.”

For now, customers have one final chance this weekend to enjoy the baked goods that made Bountiful Bakery a local favorite.
