Two men were arrested for fighting and public intoxication at a Knoxville bar and are awaiting preliminary hearings.

On October 24, the Knoxville Police Department was dispatched to the Bottom’s Up Bar located in Knoxville for a bar fight involving two men who were subsequently removed from the bar.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with witnesses outside the establishment. Witnesses stated that Jon Luran, 37, of Chariton, and Justin Kanney, 38, of Humeston, along with an unidentified male, were involved in a fight inside the bar.

Court records specified that Luran, Kanney, and their accomplice were kicked out of the bar. Law enforcement reports indicate that as Luran and Kanney were walking out of the bar, they approached another male and allegedly tried to start a fight with him. Court documents indicated that the man walked away from Luran and Kanney.

According to officials, they observed that Luran to have bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from his breath. Luran was offered a preliminary breath test multiple times and refused. The police complaint states Luran admitted to drinking a few “shots.”

Both Luran and Kanney were taken into custody by the Knoxville Police Department.

Luran and Kanney are both being detained in the Marion County Jail.

Luran is charged with public intoxication (simple misdemeanor) and disorderly conduct – fighting violent behavior (simple misdemeanor). A fine of $105.00 is imposed for each charge.

Kanney is charged with disorderly conduct—fighting/violent behavior (simple misdemeanor). Both defendants are awaiting preliminary hearings to be scheduled.
