At approximately 12:30 PM today, law enforcement was dispatched to Van Buren County High School in response to reports of a student making threats of violence towards fellow students and staff.
Upon arrival, deputies took the male student into custody and subsequently transported him to the Sheriff’s Office for further processing. He has been formally charged with the crime of Terroristic Threats, a Class D felony.
The student was later released to his parents by Juvenile Court Services. It is important to note that no weapons were present or used in the commission of this crime.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We encourage parents and guardians to discuss the importance of safety and appropriate behavior with their children.
