On Tuesday afternoon, September 10, emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle–pedestrian accident at the intersection of North Merino and Elm Street in Eddyville.
The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol were called to the scene around 2:20 p.m. Authorities say a 10-year-old girl was crossing the street when she was struck by a vehicle.
The child was taken to Mahaska County Hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The Iowa State Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident. Assisting at the scene were the Eddyville Fire Department, Mahaska County EMA, ORMICS, Mahaska County Health Ambulance, and staff from the Eddyville Community School District.
