Karen Roberta Johnson, age 85, of Centerville, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa
Karen was born on Jan. 22, 1940 in Albia, Iowa, the daughter of Earle and Grace (Walker) Jenkins. She graduated from Albia High School with the Class of 1957.
Karen was a devoted member of the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville for many years. She taught Sunday school and attended weekly women’s Bible study. In her free time, Karen enjoyed gardening, reading and puzzles. Most of all, she loved being around her family, especially during Christmas.
Left to cherish Karen’s memory are her children, Randy (Maggey) Johnson, Roxanne (Andre) Pemoulie, Rochelle (Marty) DeVore, and Ranae (Tim) McGrann; 11 grandchildren Alexis (Zach) Bogle, Tiffany Johnson (Spencer Boots), Kimmie Johnson, Anthony (fiancé, Savannah Tucker) Pemoulie, Brandon (Chloe) Pemoulie, Melette DeVore, Maryn (Silas) Arentson, Holden (Emma) DeVore, Garrett McGrann, Taylor (fiancé, Holly Sheston) McGrann, and Landon McGrann; four great-grandchildren Ryland, Veyda, Owen, and Claire; as well as numerous extended family and friends
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Earle and Grace Jenkins; her brothers, Clifford Jenkins and Melvin Jenkins; her sister, Nola Scott, and sister-in-law, Beth Jenkins.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28 at the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville with Pastor Tony Angran officiating. Visitation was held Monday, July 28 at the Solid Rock Church of God, with the family greeting friends from 10-11 a.m. Burial was held at Eddyville Cemetery in Eddyville, Iowa.
