July is Disability Pride Month, commemorating the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. To mark the occasion, Iowa State Treasurer Roby Smith is highlighting IAble — the state’s Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) plan — as a valuable resource for Iowans with disabilities.

“Disability Pride Month is a time to recognize the unique talents and contributions of individuals with disabilities,” said Treasurer Smith. “IAble can help those with disabilities achieve greater independence and financial security without risking vital benefits.”

Administered by Treasurer Smith, IAble allows eligible individuals to save for disability-related expenses — including assistive technology, support services, and medical needs — while preserving eligibility for federal programs like SSI and Medicaid.
