On July 12, 2025, 31-year-old Tanner Breese of Ottumwa was arrested following a police pursuit and drug-related investigation.
Breese tried to elude the Ottumwa Police but entered a dead end roadway. Breese exited the vehicle at 436 E. Manning, and was detained by the Ottumwa police. During questioning by the police, Breese gave the officer a false identification. Breese admitted to the Officer that he lied and provided his correct ID.
The officer requested the K9 unit to report to the scene. The K9 conducted an air sniff of the vehicle and indicated the presence of drugs located under the driver’s seat. Police located a Crown Royal bag containing several buds of Marijuana.
Breese had prior convictions for possession of a controlled substance dating from 2017 to 2021.
Breese was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He is facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Violation (Class D Felony, 3rd Offense), Failure to Affix Drug Stamp (Class D Felony), Controlled Substance Violation (Class B Felony), and Driving While Barred (Aggravated Misdemeanor).
Breese is scheduled for court on July 23rd for a bond reduction hearing and a preliminary hearing are both scheduled for July 23 at 10:00am. Breese’s cash bond is set right now at $25,000.00.
