Brady Lee McFarland, 51, of Ottumwa, died at 1:43 a.m. July 3, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after a short battle with cancer.
He was born July 2, 1974 in Ottumwa to Rick and Connie Pilcher McFarland. He married Marty Jo Hastings June 30, 1995.
A 1993 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Brady worked for Lund International for 5 years. He graduated from Indian Hills Community College with a degree in networks and securities. For the past 7 years, he worked in IT at Norris Asphalt.
Brady enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, camping and especially loved spending time at the Ozarks with his family every year.
Surviving is his wife, Marty; their children, Tyler McFarland and Kristen (Hilario) Chacon both of Ottumwa; 2 grandchildren, Maya “Peanut” and Ellie “Midge”; his parents, Rick and Connie McFarland of Ottumwa; and his sister, Melissa Headley of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and a nephew, Michael Headley.
Visitation will be open at 11a.m. Monday, July 7th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
