William Lyle Young, 57, of Ottumwa, died June 25, 2025 in Appanoose County.
He was born August 8, 1967 in California to Earl Allen and Connie Jo Andrews Young. He married Nicole Cyrene May 14, 2022.
A graduate of Mark Keppel High School in Los Angeles, CA, Bill enlisted in the US Navy and served with the Seabees. Earning his CDL, he worked as a truck driver, living in California until moving to Minnesota in 1992. He was a firefighter, fighting wildfires in Oregon. Moving to Ottumwa in 2004, he drove for Courtney’s and Deran’s Towing. He was his own owner/operator also working for Eastlick Trucking. Throughout his career, Bill would do anything to help others at work or at home.
Bill was a member of the American Trucking Historical Society and the Southeast Iowa Chapter where he had served as vice-president. He enjoyed watching documentaries, war movies and learning about history.
Surviving is his wife, Nicole; children, Allen (Justyne) Young of Ottumwa, Danielle Young (Aaron) of Minnesota and Sabrina (Justin) Reinhert of Minnesota; Nicole’s children, Thomas (Whitney) Bricker, Josh Bricker (Kaylee Bruns), Alicia (Dan) McCain, Travis (Sam) Bricker and Ben (Cassie) Bricker; their grandchildren, Presley, Tinsley, Alena, Kamdyn, Madison, Theadore, Revan, Griffyn, Thane, Annalyse, Octavia, Meadow and Cresten; two brothers, Mike and Mark Mora; along with several uncles and aunts including Pat, Anita and Carolyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private visitation will be held with cremation following the visitation.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
