A Knoxville woman is facing several charges after allegedly burning American flags while nude in Bussey early Monday morning.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a woman setting American flags on fire within city limits. Deputies say they found 21-year-old Brianna Laird wearing no pants or underwear, with a flag tied around her head. She allegedly gave deputies a false name and resisted arrest, hitting one deputy in the face and later kicking another while being placed in a patrol car.

Authorities say the flags belonged to the city of Bussey, and Laird was also found with drug paraphernalia in her possession.

Laird now faces charges including third-degree arson, assault on a peace officer, indecent exposure, interference with official acts, and other related offenses.
