An Ottumwa resident will formally announce her candidacy to be Ottumwa’s mayor later this week.
Brenda Case, a graduate of Buena Vista University and two-time recipient of the Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, will make her announcement on Thursday, June 19th at 5:30 PM at the 4th Street entrance of City Hall.
In a statement, Case says empathy is key to bring the community together.
“We are strong enough to offer compassion to those among us who are living in fear and want. We have the integrity to insist on due process for all people. We are, and always have been, Ottumwa tough.”
According to a press release, Case’s other accolades include 28 years of project management experience with the Iowa Judicial Branch, a certificate in Project Management from the University of Iowa, and membership in various community organizations including the High-Noon Kiwanis, the League of Women Voters, and the Ottumwa Community Players.
Case joins the mayoral race with Ben Foote, who announced his candidacy in April.
