Virginia Faye Thompson, 87 of Ottumwa died at 5:00 a.m. May 5, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
She was born February 5, 1938 in Wapello County to John William and Beulah Faye Thomas Rainsbarger. She married Chester Harold Thompson January 21, 1965 and he preceded her in death March 24, 1999.
Virginia grew up around Wapello County most of her life in the Ottumwa and Chillicothe area. She graduated from Eddyville High School in 1956 and went on to work at Kresge and Sears. Virginia then worked at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in laundry service retiring in 1990.
She attended Willard Street United Methodist Church. Virginia enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, reading and traveling out west.
Surviving are her 6 children; Dee Ann (Ken) Feske of Ottumwa, William Dean (Pam) Hall of Oskaloosa, Dennis Lee (Nancy) Hall of Chillicothe, Kimberly (Kurt) Reichold of Taylorsville, KY, Gregory (Catherine) Thompson of Denver, NC, and Michael (Lisa) Thompson of Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 infant sons.
Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday May 8th at Chillicothe Cemetery with Pastor Chris Childs officiating.
