A tragic house fire just south of Sigourney has left two people dead.
The fire broke out Monday afternoon at a home along Highway 149. Fire crews rushed to the scene after reports that people might still be inside. Despite their efforts, firefighters say the flames were too intense to get in and perform a rescue.
Several departments responded to the call. Once the fire was under control, crews discovered the bodies of two people inside the home.
At this time, the names of the victims have not been released.
