Two adults and a juvenile are facing serious charges after authorities say they set off explosive devices in the streets of Bonaparte Thursday morning.
According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 400 block of First Street around 9 a.m. after reports of loud explosions. When they arrived, officers found several plastic bottles that appeared to have detonated in the roadway.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested 20-year-old Jacob Barrows and 20-year-old Taylor High, both of Bonaparte. A 16-year-old boy from Fairfield was also taken into custody. Because he’s a minor, his name has not been released.
All three are charged with placing an incendiary or explosive device—a felony offense.
No injuries were reported, and the sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing.
