A Thursday morning head-on collision claimed the life of a teenager in Jefferson County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 17-year-old Ava Ford of Packwood was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry southbound on Packwood Road at 7:35 AM.
The accident report states for some unknown reason, the Camry crossed the center line of the road and struck a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by 40-year-old Clinton Weaver of Lancaster, Missouri, that was traveling northbound.
Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. Weaver sustained serious injuries and was transported via Air Care to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where his current status is unknown.
The accident remains under investigation.
