Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Stouthammer, 65, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on May 17, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 13, 1959 in Ottumwa, Iowa to George Harry and Donna Marie Sickles Stouthammer. Jerry married Brenda Walker on June 28, 1980 in Drakesville, Iowa.

Jerry worked as an auto mechanic for many years and had his own shop. He also worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works, Barker in Centerville, and pig farms while living in Nodaway, Iowa. He also served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT while living in Nodaway. He loved to keep his hands busy tinkering and making things. Being outdoors was a great joy in Jerry’s life – He devoted many hours to hunting, fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, feeding the squirrels, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid NASCAR and Minnesota Vikings fan. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Stouthammer; three children, Amy (Floyd) Larson of Bloomfield, Amanda Stouthammer of Bloomfield, Adam (Chandra) Stouthammer of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlin, Jalena, Christa, Callie, Emmylou, Cassandra, Lilith, Lewis, Liam, Lachlen, Xaiver; siblings, Shelly, Brenda, Jenny; mother-in-law, Doris Lindley of Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Deanna and Dan; and father-in-law, Norman Lindley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Matt Froah officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial of the cremated remains at the Floris Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to his family.
