The owners of Ide Gymnastics in Fairfield were arrested after authorities said they allowed a registered sex offender to work at their business.

66-year-old Jefferey Ide and 65-year-old Jeanne Ide, both of Brighton, were each charged with child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.

According to a press release, on April 14th, an off-duty officer from the Fairfield Police Department observed a man on the sex offender registry list outside of Ide Gymnastics, located at 1598 Pleasant Plain, with children present.

The officer allegedly saw the suspect serving food and drinks to children unsupervised. Officials say the individual is prohibited from working or volunteering at any business that primarily serves children.

The officer contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the suspect was arrested without incident.

After an investigation, it was determined that the owners of Ide Gymnastics knew of the individual’s sex offender status and still allowed him to be in the presence of children unsupervised.

A warrant for Jeffery and Jeanne Ide’s arrest was issued on April 28th, and they were taken into custody on April 30th.

The Ides are currently free after posting bond. A joint pretrial conference is scheduled for July 1st. The couple has entered a plea of not guilty.
