Dorothy Jean Schuttlefield, 98, of Ottumwa, died at 6:31 p.m. May 7, 2025 at The Kindred House in Ottumwa.
She was born September 15, 1926 in Pella to Martin and Irene Vander Heiden. She married Louis B. Schuttlefield August 31, 1944 and he preceded her in death December 4, 2007.
A 1943 graduate of Oskaloosa High School, Dorothy had been an office manager at Sears in Ottumwa, retiring in 1981.
Dorothy was a past member of Order of Eastern Star Ollie Chapter #549. She enjoyed working outside, shopping, baking and going to Jaarsma Bakery. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially helping her grandchildren with their 4-H projects.
Surviving are her children, Warren (Janet) Schuttlefield of Ingleside, IL and Jon (Dianne) Schuttlefield of Ottumwa; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Christus, Jon M. Schuttlefield, Scott (Emily) Schuttlefield, Katherine (Dustin) Guevara and Laura (Benjamin) Simmons; 9 great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Abigail, Allison, Nicole, Logan, Weston, Kelsie, Levi and Tiffany.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward Vander Heiden and Leroy Vander Heiden; and sisters, Betty Kitzman and Elsie Lucky.
Private graveside services and burial will be in McCormick Cemetery.
