Alan Michael Koffman, fondly known as Mikey to his close friends and loved ones, was born on November 16, 1983, in Ottumwa, IA.
A devoted husband, father, son, and friend, Alan was a beacon of laughter and steadiness in the lives of those he held dear. His humor was infectious, his loyalty unwavering, and his reliability a constant source of comfort. A thoughtful soul, Alan had a knack for making those around him feel cherished. In the words of Albert Schweitzer, “In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.” Alan was one such person, and he rekindled our spirits with his presence.
Alan made Albia, Iowa his home for 41 years, where he built a beautiful life with his wife, Amber Koffman, whom he married on the first day of 2011. He was a skilled diesel mechanic by trade, a profession he chose after graduating from Indian Hills Community College. His free time was often spent at the Knoxville raceway, sharing his passion for racing with his beloved son, Aiden. To Alan, family, friends, and Aiden were not just important, they were his world. A good man is not defined by his successes alone, but by the love he leaves behind. Alan is survived by his father, John Koffman; mother, Barbara Koffman; spouse, Amber Koffman; and son, Aiden Koffman, and several aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Adam and Christopher Koffman, paternal grandparents, John & Dorothy Koffman; maternal grandparents, Dave & Jackie Carlberg. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him: the man who was as funny as he was loyal, as reliable as he was thoughtful.
Alan’s beloved aunt Renee Harryman is fullfilling his last wish by providing his celebration of life dinner at the Blakesburg Community Center on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family and mailed to 214 A. Ave West, Albia, Iowa 52531.
