The Fairfield City Council held its first meeting of March on Monday night.
After approving the consent agenda, the council set the date for three public hearings. The first is to amend the Fairfield Forever Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use map. The second is for the preliminary and final plat for Sunrise Trail Subdivision, and thirdly, the plans, specifications, form of contract, and engineer’s estimate for the sunrise trail infrastructure project. The date for all three hearings will be March 24.
The council also set a date for a hearing concerning the 2026 fiscal year budget. The public hearing will take place on April 14.
The council approved the city’s participation in the Main Street Iowa program and, if Fairfield is approved to be a Main Street Iowa community, will appoint a city official to represent the city on the local nonprofit Main Street governing board of directors.
The city council approved the tax abatement application for 58 West Burlington Avenue and passed the first reading of an ordinance that is looking to change vendor regulations.
The next Fairfield City Council meeting will be held on March 24.
