Bonnie Madge Talbot, age 99, of Urbandale, IA, formerly of Centerville, IA, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Senior Suites in Urbandale, under the care of Suncrest Hospice.
Bonnie was born on August 31, 1925, in Mystic, IA, to James and Bertie (Osborn) Swan. She grew up attending school in Plano and later graduated from Centerville High School. On December 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Frank Talbot Jr. and to this union, 2 children were born, James and Linda. Bonnie and Frank were blessed with 52 years of marriage prior to Frank’s passing on July 31, 1997.
Bonnie worked as a telephone operator and later as chief operator for nearly 25 years until her retirement. She was also a homemaker, staying at home at different times during her career to raise her children.
Bonnie was a member of the Plano Christian Church. She and Frank enjoyed traveling and camping. They wintered in McAllen, Texas, where they met lifelong friends and formed a travel group, taking trips to many different places. They also loved attending rodeos. Bonnie enjoyed her friends in the GEG (get together, eat, and gab) Club. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing counter cross stitch, crossword puzzles, and playing cards, especially Dummy Rummy. Bonnie also loved to sit outdoors and watch her favorite birds. Above all else, her true joy in life was spending time with her family.
Recent years of Bonnie’s life were enriched by the loving care of special “granddaughter” Debbie and the wonderful staff at Senior Suites of Urbandale.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Linda McAninch; 3 grandsons, Patrick (Debbie), Kirk (Susan), and Shawn (Lori) McAninch; and 8 great grandchildren, Chloe, Natalie, Hunter (Kolby), Jer, Millie, Maggie, Molly, and Macey. Bonnie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her son, James Talbot; her husband, Frank Talbot Jr.; her son-in-law, Charles McAninch; and her siblings, Lelah, Vera, Dortha, Dixie, James, Gretchen, Mary Jo, and Richard.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Bonnie’s family present to greet family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will follow services at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, IA.
A memorial has been established to the Drake Public Library in Centerville.
