Ron Van Wyk, 82, of Oskaloosa, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Oskaloosa Care Center.


Ronald James Van Wyk, son of James and Mary (Nevenhouse) Van Wyk, was born March 1, 1942, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He grew up on a farm west of Lacey and was a 1960 graduate of Lacey High School. Ron’s career was in pole barn construction, and through the years worked for Bloom Builders, A & D Builders, Dennis Allgood Construction, and, for the last eight years, the Army Corp of Engineers. He retired in 1998.
On January 1, 1971, Ron married Doris Joan (Wilkinson) Dalbey. Together, they enjoyed camping in many states, and from 1992 to 1998, they worked summers at the Wallashuck Recreation area on the north side of Lake Red Rock for the Army Corp of Engineers. Ron enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, and gardening.


His family includes his son, David (Kathy) Dalbey of Osceola, and daughter, Connie (Dale) Sanders of Beacon; grandchildren: Nicole Dalbey Anderson and Jacob Dalbey, both of Oskaloosa; and great-grandchildren, Kole Mathes, Arieonna and Tayden Ron Dalbey.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, on September 20, 2019.


Funeral services for Ron will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with Rev. Molly Goodrich of the First Christian Church officiating. A visition will be held for one hour before the service. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery near New Sharon. Memorial contributions can be made to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter.
