Cecile Lucille Saner, 94, of Ottumwa, died February 15, 2025 at Timber Ridge in Ottumwa.
She was born May 2, 1930 in Centerville to Arthur and Mary Kelley Houser. She married Melvin Wolver and they later divorced. She married Marshall Johns in 1972 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She married Charles Ray Saner in 1991 and he preceded her in death in 2007.
A 1947 graduate of Centerville High School, Cecile worked as a Home Health Aid with SEIDA in Ottumwa for 6 years after her children were grown. She then went into private in-home health care, retiring in 1991. After moving to the farm with Ray, she attended Dunville Baptist Church and was involved with Saved To Serve at the church.
She was a member of Davis Street Christian Church.
Cecile enjoyed gardening, canning and most importantly, raising her 5 children.
Surviving are two sons, Larry (Sharon) Wolver of Ottumwa and Leonard (Susan) Wolver of Clinton; a daughter, Mary Kay (Stephen) Foster of Prairie Village, KS; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 step-sons and 2 step-daughters, Bill Pethrehn of Hedrick, Nancy Morrow of Ottumwa, Tom Saner of Ottumwa, Wade (DeAnn) Saner of Bloomfield and Peggy Iles of Mt. Pleasant; along with several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lonnie Wolver in 1970 and Michael Wolver in 2000; a great grandson, Shawn Morrow; two brothers, Raymond Houser and Billy Houser.
Visitation will be open from 11 a..m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 19th, at Reece Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 20th, at Davis Street Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Terry Wise officiating. The family will be present to greet friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Mt. Ararat Cemetery east of Centerville.
