Joyce Jacqueline Bishop, 86, of Ottumwa, died at 7:45 p.m. January 9, 2025 at Vista Woods Care Center.
She was born June 1, 1938 in Ottumwa to Otis L. and Elsie E. Dickerson Dowd. She married Jerry O’Neal Bishop July 16, 1955 at Westminster Presbyterian Church and he preceded her in death January 14, 2007.
Joyce had worked for Truitt Abstracting.
She was a member of Albia Road Baptist Church. Joyce enjoyed quilting and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Jerry “Dusty” Bishop of Ottumwa, Matthew (Robin) Bishop of Marshalltown and Joshua Bishop of Fairfield; 4 grandchildren, Gabriel, Justin, Kellen and Nate; and sister, Donna Dignin of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Lyle Otis Bishop; and 9 siblings, Jim Dowd, Lyle Dowd, Robert Dowd, Jack Dowd, Doris Woodard, Mary Black, Betty Lathrop, Eileen Dowd and Colleen Edler.
Her body has been cremated.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 14th at Reece Funeral Home.
