Warren L. Harryman, 101, of Keosauqua, formerly of Ottumwa died at 11:30 p.m. December 27, 2024 at Keosauqua Health Care Center with loved ones present.
He was born October 1, 1923 in Douds, IA to Harvey and Lela Schaeffer Harryman. He married Dorothy Weller October 1, 1947 and she preceded him in death June 12, 2010.
Growing up in Douds and moving to Ottumwa in 1988, Warren served in the Navy during World War 2. He had worked at Barker Wire, Chain and Cable, Parson’s College, was a custodian at Douds Elementary and a custodian at Blackhawk Community College where he retired.
Warren was a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion in Douds.
Surviving are his children, Connie Bahl of Iowa City, Randy (Peggy) Harryman of Keosauqua and Cathy (Jan) Poling of Birmingham; 6 grandchildren, Stacey (David) Larsen, Mandi (Brad) Lauderman, Chris (Cassie) Harryman, Jake (Meagan) Poling, Jeff (Emily) Harryman and Jessica (Denver) Westaway; 15 great grandchildren, Derek, Gabe and Eden Larsen, Ayden, Addyson, Carter and Breckan Topping, Logan and Reed Lauderman, Payten and Emma Poling, Hayley Pohren-Gevok, Eileen and Hazel Harryman and Cash Westaway; and a great-great granddaughter, Emmalyse Miller
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Matthew Topping; 2 brothers, Russell Harryman and Elwood Harryman; and 2 sisters, Marjorie Porter and Jenny Stump.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, January 2nd at Reece Funeral Home with Tim Sprouse officiating. Military honors will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 2nd at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Keosauqua Health Care Center or Every Step Hospice.
