An Ottumwa couple was arrested following an investigation regarding the alleged poor treatment of dogs.
49-year-old Stephanie Warner and 40-year-old Travis Warner were each charged with two counts of cruelty to animals, a simple misdemeanor.
According to Lieutenant Jason Bell of the Ottumwa Police Department, the department concluded an ongoing investigation on December 4 regarding the health and welfare of several dogs at a residence on South Iowa Avenue.
Bell says investigators determined there were two dogs that were not provided adequate nutrition and medical treatment. The dogs were seized and taken to a veterinarian who determined the animals were malnourished and in need of medical treatment.
Stephanie and Travis Warner were transported to the Wapello County Jail and later freed after posting bond.
