Linda Walker, age 77, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the MHP Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa. She was born on October 29, 1947, in Mahaska County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Opal Lorena (Keeran) Fleener. She attended school in Oskaloosa. On September 21, 1963, she was united in marriage to David B. Walker. Together they shared over 50 years of marriage until David passed away in December 2016.
Linda worked at Big Smith Overall Factory, U.S. Fiber, Oskaloosa Food Produce, Hardee’s and lastly KFC retiring in 2009. Linda enjoyed trips to Canada with David on his hunting trips. She also enjoyed spending time at the cabin on the Des Moines River, camping, painting ceramics, she loved baking and cooking, and she loved time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son: David Walker, Jr. of Oskaloosa; two daughters: Lori (Chuck) Cobbler of Ottumwa and Lynette Gordon of Oskaloosa; eight grandchildren: Anthony Walker, Chelsie Osborn, Kameren and Keirsten Gordon, Kyson and Kyron Smith, and Khia and Faith Walker; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald (Suzie) Fleener; a brother-in-law, Walter Burch and a sister-in-law, Linda Fleener.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, David Walker, a great granddaughter, Layla Walker, sisters, Marilyn Amber, Judy Baker, Patty Maxie and Marguerite Burch and 3 brothers, Bill Fleener, Larry Fleener and Jerry Fleener.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Molly Goodrich officiating. Burial will take place in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa following services. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel with Linda’s family present to greet relatives and guests. Memorials may be made to the family.
