Jerry Wayne Roe, 84, of Ottumwa, died at 6:05 a.m. December 24, 2024 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born September 18, 1940 in Ottumwa to Louis and Margaret McCoy Roe. Jerry married Terri J. Williams on May 5, 1979.
A 1958 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Jerry had worked for 20 years at Everco and for 10 years at Harper Brush. Following his retirement, he worked in maintenance at Wal-Mart.
In his younger years, Jerry liked to fish and hunt. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and black and white westerns. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, attending OHS softball games, his dogs Roxy and Dolly and feeding the neighborhood dogs and squirrels. Jerry was a family man. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and always attended their activities along with various family events.
Surviving is his wife, Terri; her children, Paul (Jenny) Huston of Ames and Wendy (Tom) Lindsey of Florida; 9 grandchildren, Katie (James) Chidister, Samantha Lindsey, Jacob Huston, Andrew Lindsey, Nick Lindsey, Ryan Russell, Hayden Russell, Blake Russell and Will Russell; 3 great-grandchildren, Juniper, Ari and Axel; 2 sisters, Linda (Bill) Hoffman and Sherry (Steve) Lee both of Ottumwa; several nieces, nephews and other extended family who were close to him..
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Roe; his mother, Margaret Redmon; a daughter, Terrie Pinnix; a grandson, Joshua John; a sister, Karen Agen and a brother, Louis Roe Jr.
His body has been cremated.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 30th at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service.
