Marcia Vina Weeks, 84, of Ottumwa, died at 8:19 a.m. November 7, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
She was born May 29, 1940 in Ottumwa to Gerald Thomas and Vera Caldwell Martin.
A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, Marcia was a 1958 graduate of Ottumwa High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Northern Iowa in 1985. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a photographer. She had worked for the Iowa Department of Human Services for 30 years, retiring in 2002.
Marcia enjoyed skiing, playing volleyball, riding motorcycles, traveling and refurbishing computers for people in the community.
Surviving is her son, Greg (Barbara) Weeks of Pittsburgh, PA; two grandchildren, Elijah and Josiah; a sister, Gerry (Don) Bankson of Bloomfield; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beverly Orman; brothers, Joseph Martin and Gary Martin; and two great-nephews, Trevor Beggs and Grayson Bankson.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Thursday, November 14th, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 15th, at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
