Deanna W. Filson, passed away peacefully at her home in Stockport, Iowa, on November 5, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on November 16, 1966, in Washington, Iowa to Richard Lee and Linda Jean (Harris) Hagans, Deanna grew up in the Brighton area and was a proud graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1985. Her early years were filled with the joy of riding horses, an activity she loved sharing with her family and friends.
After completing her education, Deanna dedicated herself to caring for others, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at a local nursing home in Washington. She also provided childcare, nurturing many children with her kindness and warmth. Deanna’s life was enriched when she met her beloved husband, Gary Filson. The couple united in marriage on July 23, 1994, at the Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, and made their home in the countryside of Stockport. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.
Professionally, Deanna embarked on a fulfilling career with Walmart in Fairfield in 1994. Over the next 30 years, she became an integral part of the community as a Pharmacy Technician, where her dedication and care touched the lives of countless individuals.
Deanna and Gary shared a love for the Iowa State Fair, a tradition that began shortly after they met and continued annually. Their shared passion for the fair led them to display their goats at the Iowa State Fair Learning Center, an experience that they both cherished. Deanna also found pleasure in the simple things, such as watching cooking shows and reading books. However, her greatest joy was found in the time spent with her family. She was a constant presence at her children’s school events and a devoted volunteer.
Left to honor Deanna’s memory and legacy are her loving husband, Gary; her sons, Garrett and Cordell Filson, both of Stockport; her daughter, Danielle Davison (Dennis) of Stockport; and her grandchildren, Aaron Gearheart, Emily Batterson, and Harper Davison. Deanna’s life was also enriched by her brothers, David Hagans (Kim) of Brighton and Rick Hagans (Marcy) of Washington, as well as her six bonus children, Nick Countryman, Colton Kisling, John Spurgeon, Brian Hervey, Jake and Cassie Heisel. Her numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends will also hold her memory dear. Deanna was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Terry and Bob Hagans.
