An eastern Iowa man faces several charges after police say he was involved in a high-speed chase in a stolen car and later crashed it.

18-year-old Demetrius Hendricksen of Blairstown has been charged with several traffic violations and eluding, a Class D felony. More charges are potentially pending, according to a press release.

According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, officers attempted to stop a Red Nissan Pathfinder driven by Hendricksen at 12:53 AM on October 24. The vehicle briefly stopped then fled at a high rate of speed reaching 85-110 mph.

A chase ensued and the Pathfinder turned south on Marsh Avenue and entered a ditch. The vehicle continued speeding into a cornfield until it hit an embankment and went airborne.

The Pathfinder crashed in the field and came to a stop. Hendricksen was taken into custody and it was later determined the vehicle was stolen.

Medical personnel arrived on scene and Hendricksen was transported to the hospital. His status is unknown.

The case remains under investigation.
