An Ottumwa man and a codefendant allegedly stole tools from a train.
40-year-old Clint Smith was charged with 2nd degree theft.
On October 6 at 11:00 p.m., court records say Smith and the codefendant trespassed on the railroad and climbed onto a train trailer. Officers say the pair stole approximately $6,000 worth of tools from the toolboxes.
Authorities say the act was caught on camera and Smith was identified by officers.
Smith was transported to the Wapello County Jail. He has a $5,000 bond and the preliminary hearing was waived.
