Mahaska Health is thrilled to announce the recent enhancements to the Serenity House Garden, made possible by the generosity of Bob and Roxanne Denner. The updated garden now features a vibrant array of new plants and a beautifully revitalized rock landscape, providing a serene and uplifting environment for patients and their families.

A member of the Serenity Hospice Auxiliary Board, Roxanne Denner has been participating in efforts to serve the Serenity House mission for the past few years. Being a gardener herself, the opportunity to invest in this opportunity aligned with her interest in the welfare of guests and their families.

The original garden was planted in 2010 when the Serenity House was built, thanks to Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary members. This garden expansion reflects the commitment to making the Hospice Serenity House a place of peace and comfort, offering patients and their loved ones a space to reflect and find solace during difficult times. The new, colorful garden is a visual reminder of the power of generosity and the positive impact it has on the lives of so many in the community.

“We are so grateful for this generous contribution to our garden,” shared Amanda Doud, Mahaska Health Foundation Director. “It is such a powerful visual reflection of the compassion in our community. We also appreciate all the work Stam’s Garden Center did with the plans and
placement of the flowers. We’re sure many families will be blessed by it for years to come.”

Hospice Serenity House, located on the Mahaska Health campus, provides compassionate end- of-life care to patients of all ages. The care team focuses on addressing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and their families at the facility.

Community members can support the Mahaska Health Serenity House at our annual events, through one-time on-line, phone, or in person gifts, or through planned legacy giving. More information is available at mahaskahealth.org/mahaska-health-foundation and at 641.676.7420.
