Charles Milton Hopwood, 72, of Bloomfield, died October 3, 2024 at his home. He was born September 9, 1952 to James Clayton and Anna Marie Sullivan Hopwood. He married Nancy Hanna and they later divorced.
A graduate of Davis County High School, Chuck attended Indian Hills Community College. He worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works for 30 years, retiring in 2001.
Chuck was a member of UAW Local #74 and had been a member of Empire Masonic Lodge #269 A.F. & A.M. He was a huge sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa State Cyclones. He also loved to play golf and listen to the Beatles. Chuck especially enjoyed watching his nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events and enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughters, Alicia (John) Mangin of Hartford and Jennifer (Chris) Ball of Bloomfield; 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Julianna, Simon, Jack and Amelia; his siblings, Dennis (Christine) Hopwood, David (Connie) Hopwood and JoAnn Shadley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tim Hopwood, Gary Hopwood and James Hopwood.
His body has been cremated.
A time for visitation and to celebrate his life will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 17th at Reece Funeral Home.
