An Ottumwa man allegedly wrecked his minibike and ran from officers to avoid his arrest.
27-year-old Michael Clark was charged with driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor, eluding, a class C felony, possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
On September 10 at 9:40 p.m, court records say Clark was driving a minibike on the public road and an officer in a patrol car initiated a traffic stop. Officers say Clark eluded the lights and sirens. Clark crashed the minibike and fled by foot until officers arrested him.
According to court records, Clark has two prior eluding convictions and is barred from driving.
During the arrest, authorities conducted a search and found two bags of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe with drug residue in Clark’s possession.
Court records say Clark has two previous drug convictions.
Clark was transported to the Wapello County Jail. He was released on his own recognizance.
