FAIRFIELD – The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce our Teacher Appreciation Event aimed at supporting local educators by providing them with free classroom supplies. The event, taking place on Wednesday, September 18 at Fairfield Arts and Convention Center from 4pm to 5:30pm, will equip teachers with essential materials, such as notebooks, pens, markers, and more, all at no cost.

Recognizing that many teachers spend their own money to ensure their classrooms are adequately stocked, the Chamber of Commerce is bringing together local businesses to give back to those who do so much for the community.

“Teachers play such a vital role in shaping the future of our community,” said Denise Hall, Chamber Board President. “By offering this support, we hope to ease the financial strain they often face and express our gratitude for their dedication.”

The event is made possible by our presenting sponsor MidWestOne Bank. Over 30 businesses have signed up to donate supplies to help teachers prepare for the school year. Miller Realty is returning this year to decorate the event to make sure it is lovely.

New this year, we will have some entities set up in the atrium with field trip options and support for teachers. The Mental Health Alliance will be there to let teachers know resources for them and their students. There is some other new and exciting things happening this year that will be revealed that evening!

Teachers from Fairfield, Maharishi, Van Buren, Pekin and Cardinal School Districts are invited. Admission is free, but registration is encouraged to ensure adequate arrangements.

Alongside the free materials, participating teachers will have the chance to enter raffles for larger items and will have free food and drink to show our appreciation.

“This is more than just an event—it’s a demonstration of how our community values education and the hard work our teachers do every day,” said Chamber Director Mendy McAdams. “We want our educators to feel appreciated and empowered as they head into the new school year.”

Teacher’s RSVPs are needed. Email [email protected] to let us know you are coming. Be sure to tell us if you are a first-year teacher and if you need childcare which is provided at no cost. All children MUST go to the babysitting room so all teachers can enjoy the event.
