Crews at the Ottumwa, Calvary, and Ottumwa Jewish Cemeteries will begin the annual fall cleanup on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Families that wish to keep any tributes or memorial decorations need to remove those items from the cemetery prior to October 1. Families may keep shepherd’s crooks at the gravesite, but any hanging arrangements must be removed. Cemetery personnel will remove all floral tributes, decorations, and wreaths remaining during the cleanup. Decorations can be placed again after Friday, November 1.
The Ottumwa, Calvary, and Ottumwa Jewish Cemeteries are cleaned twice annually, once in the spring and once in the fall. Residents with questions about the cemetery cleanup or the requirements for memorial decorations can call 641-683-0687.
