Steven Reeves, 67, of Fremont, died Friday, August 16, 2024, at his home in Fremont. He was born December 11, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Earl and Arlene Goepfert Reeves. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School with the class of 1975. Following graduation Steve had various jobs in the Cedar Rapids area. He then took a job as an over the road truck driver. After many years of driving, he started working construction. Last he worked at JBS in Ottumwa, retiring from there in April of 2023. On February 14, 1999, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Russell in Oskaloosa. Steve had a great sense of adventure. He was always on the lookout for new places to explore. He loved the water especially boating, swimming, and scuba diving. He looked forward to hunting morel mushrooms every spring and seemed to always know just where to look to bring home a good mess of mushrooms for supper.
His family includes his wife, Cynthia Reeves of Fremont, two children, Josh (Aimee) Reeves of Littleton, Iowa, and Melanie Reeves of Vinton; many grandchildren; a great granddaughter; three step-children, Christoper Russell of Oskaloosa, Rusty Russell of Oskaloosa and Dawn Russell of Denmark; two sisters, Jodee (Richard) Pahl of Platteville, Wisconsin, and Susan (Keith) Gudenkauf of Delhi, Iowa; two brothers, Brian (Jerilyn) Reeves of Cedar Rapids, and Michael (Betty) Reeves of Dickeyville, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jacob Reeves; and a grandson, Tyler Avis.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at 18999 250th Street, Shelter 3, Lake Belva Deer in Sigourney, Iowa. As was Steve’s wish his body has been cremated. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service time at Shelter 3 at Lake Belva Deer starting at 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24.
