Mark Edward Long, known to us as Mark, took his final bow on August 12th, 2024. He was born on March 7th, 1961, in Albia, IA, to Everett Edward and Barbara (Cousins) Long. Mark was an adventurous soul who lived life to its fullest, always seeking new experiences and challenges. His zest for life was infectious, and he left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Mark was a man of ambition, who spent most of his fruitful life working in the tree cutting business as a logger. Despite the demands of his profession, he found solace in the raw beauty of nature, a testament to his adventurous spirit. As a young man Mark found joy in working on the family farm in Albia, Iowa, where he resided. Mark enjoyed riding dirt bikes in his younger years, a hobby that reflected his adventurous nature. He also had a knack for tinkering with cars and trucks, a pastime that brought joy and satisfaction.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Jadhav of Delaware, Ohio; siblings, Annie Scott of Moravia, Shirley (Larry) Curtis of Centerville, Melinda (Charles) Myhervold of Urbandale, Patricia Eileen (Mike) Bowen of Cameron, MO; cousin, Dennis Walters of Orion, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Barbara Long; cousin, Connie Murphy and two nieces.

Mark’s body has been cremated with no planned services per his wishes.

Mark’s presence will be deeply missed, but his adventurous spirit and ambitious nature will continue to inspire all who knew him. We invite all who were touched by Mark’s life to leave memories and upload photos to his memorial page, creating a tapestry of love and remembrance that reflects his life.

A quote from Mark: “Life is a wonderful thing, live it like you intend to live forever. Put your trust in God, He wants you with Him if you truly want to be with Him. God is truth, and truth is His highest praise. Praise Him, and never will you walk in darkness alone. ” “Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 CSB
