The City Council of Ottumwa approved the first reading of an ordinance that legalizes the operation of golf carts within City limits.
On August 6, the Ottumwa City Council members discussed the operation of golf carts within the City limits during the City Council meeting. Concerning the Ordinance No. 3232-2024, under Chapter 23 Motor Vehicles and Traffic of the Code of Ordinances, by adding a new Article XVI, Golf Carts.
The council addressed public safety concerning other personnel on the road and the infrastructure of the City. The motion to legalize the operation of golf carts on public roads within the City limits was passed with a three to one vote.
This is the first of three considerations the City has passed.
