A Burlington man with a medical condition allegedly eluded law enforcement with a stolen vehicle.

54-year-old Jefferey Elmore was charged with eluding, theft 2nd degree, driving while barred, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance 2nd offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On August 15, the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Department says a stolen vehicle was observed traveling on US Highway 61 near 210th Street. During the arrest, authorities conducted a search and located a drug pipe and methamphetamine.

Elmore was observed to be suffering from a medical condition and was taken to the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center by ambulance and later released.
