Steve Elliott Herrmann, 87, of Des Moines, died at 6:08 p.m. July 22, 2024 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
He was born May 17, 1937 in Ottumwa to Gordon Gerald “Pat” and Victoria Juanita Elliott Herrmann.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Steve attended Parson’s College and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. Steve was in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War and in Germany. He was a computer operator for the payroll department for the State of Iowa for his entire career.
Steve loved watching major league baseball, especially the New York Yankees, watching NASCAR and enjoyed road tripping all over the country by car.
Surviving is his sister, Nancy (John) Reardon of Marshalltown; a nephew, John Patrick Reardon (Debbie Groves) of Ankeny; 2 nieces, Jill Ahn of Des Moines and Heidi Ames of California; 4 great-nephews, Tyler, Sawyer, Levi and Becker Reardon; 3 great-nieces, Dylaneigh (Louie) Hiza, Bradi Reardon and Victoria (Gregg) Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-nephew, Spenser Ahn; and many aunts and uncles on both the Herrmann and Elliott sides.
His body has been cremated.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 1 p.m. Friday July 26th at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating.
