Richard “Dick” Lowell Campbell, 82, of Eldon, IA passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital. As were Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Eldon Cemetery in Eldon, IA with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 1, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA. Memorial contributions in Richard’s honor may be directed to the Living Hope Bible Church or to Eldon Fire and Rescue (please make payable to City of Eldon). Richard Lowell Campbell was born on November 18, 1941, in Keosauqua, IA to Ernest and Madelon Simmons Campbell. He attended school in Keosauqua and spent time in the United States Navy. He worked for Campbell Chain in Burlington before starting a career at Dexter Laundry where he was a dedicated employee until his retirement. In 1974, Dick married the love of his life, Karen Roberts in Rock Island, IL. Dick and Karen loved to travel together and spent 12 winters in Texas with their RV and traveled most of the United States. Dick loved camping and fishing whenever time would allow. He was a fan of NASCAR and attended many races stockcar races at the Eldon Raceway. Later in life he enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling and following Kaitlyn Clark. His favorite moments were spent with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always managed to find a few cookies for them to enjoy. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Karen (2023), a stepdaughter, Becky Dye, and four siblings, David, Norman, Christine, and Sara.

Left to share his story is his stepdaughter, Debb (Dan) Durflinger of Eldon, IA; two brothers, Michael (Dolores) Campbell and Danny Campbell; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly) Sloan, Amber (Eric) Beal, Jay Sloan, Felisha (Austin) Deao, and Samantha Frasher; ten great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.
