A Fairfield man was charged with three counts after a consented search.
36-year-old Craig Ashbrook was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, schedule 2, schedule 4).
On July 21 at approximately 8:40 p.m, court records say Fairfield Police were at the Harrison Apartment Complex investigating a disturbance. Authorities say they asked Ashbrook if he had possession of a weapon and he responded “I might have a box cutter in my pocket.”
Officers say Ashbrook consented to a search on his person and in his guitar case. An unlabeled yellow pill bottle and a small plastic bag were located. According to court records, police read Ashbrook his Miranda rights and he consented to further investigation. Ashbrook told authorities the substances were methamphetamine, XANAX, and adderall.
Ashbrook was taken to the Jefferson County Jail. He plead not guilty at his initial appearance and has a preliminary hearing on August 1.
