Georgia Binns, 64, of Des Moines and formerly Oskaloosa, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Georgia Ann Binns, daughter of Roy and Martina Marie (Beals) Timson was born December 6, 1959, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was raised in Sigourney until she was eight years old. In February 1968, she went to live with Franklin and Kay Sturing in Oskaloosa. She attended the Oskaloosa Christian School and Oskaloosa Junior and Senior High Schools. She lived with the Sturings for 12 years and then went to live on her own. Georgia married Robert Binns on May 17, 1985, at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church. They made their home in Oskaloosa. Georgia worked at the Wilcox Library at William Penn College for several years, and then after her children were in school, she worked at APAC and Wendy’s Restaurant. She was a Bethel Christian Reformed Church member for 32 years and was active in the Ladies Bible Hour Guild. She transferred her membership to the Good News Chapel in 2002 and assisted in worship by playing piano there. In 2018, Georgia moved to Des Moines to be closer to her daughter. She enjoyed crocheting, coloring, and playing the piano in her free time.
Her family includes her daughter, Naomi Ver Schuure of Des Moines, a grandson, Anakin Zahn, and two cousins, Helen Henricksen Schuler and Debbie Henricksen Houser, both of Laurens, Iowa.

In addition to her parents, Toy Timson and Martina Timson Keasling, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband on May 21, 2013; her son, Brian Binns, on October 28, 2004; an infant brother, George Leroy Timson; an aunt, Betty Church.

A graveside memorial service will held at Forest Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2024; Pastor Alvern Boetsma of the Good News Chapel will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to her family and sent to the funeral chapel. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with Georgia’s arrangements.
